Danehills was established in 1986, by my mother Dr. Ranjana Nargolkar, when she bought a beautiful brindle female puppy, “Sheba” (officially Ch. Danedom’s Star Appeal) from Mr. Mukund Ogale of Danedom kennels, a renowned Great Dane kennel in India at the time. Sheba carried the world famous Clausentum (owned by the renowned Dane breeder & judge Ms. Jean Lanning of England) and Dundane bloodlines (Ms. Anita Dunne, USA).

Besides being a wonderful companion, Sheba turned out to be an outstanding show dog, finishing her championship easily and winning multiple board placements. Thus began our long and beautiful association with this Apollo of Dogdom and we thank Mr. and Mrs. Mukund Ogale for starting us off on this wonderful journey.

Danehills and Magnarock is a collaborative effort of Gauri Nargolkar and Mahesh Amale. We have strived to introduce the cream of American blood lines to India and to establish a strain. We owe our breeding program to the trust our mentor, Francette J Lass (Lagarada Great Danes, USA) has placed in us and the guidance and advice she has given us over the years. Quality without compromise is our motto and responsible, selective breeding of healthy, happy puppies as close to the breed standard is what we shall continue to strive for.

Danehills would not be what it is today without the contribution of some very special people. We are grateful for the years of work breeders before us have put in to create the foundation for our breed and to those who have strived to enhance it.
